This is how Airfinance Journal's Deal of the Year awards, sponsored by Pegasus Aviation, unfolded at the Rainbow Rooms in New York, and guests applauded in unison as the award winners took to the stage to receive their gongs.
First up was the Airport Finance Deal of the Year, which was awarded to the concession agreement between the Cyprus government and a consortium to develop Lanarka and Paphos Airports. Unlike an airport merger or acquisition, the Cyprus Airports public-private partnership is airport financing in its true form and involved commitments from ING, RBS, SG and WestLB.
