India plans to remove its witholding tax exemption to lease agreements entered into after April 1 2007. The tax applies to operating lease agreements. India is also in the process of ratifying the Cape Town Convention.
The European Commission has placed Pakistani flag-carrier Pakistan International Airlines under an operating ban, which prohibits it from operating all but seven of its aircraft within the airspace of the European Union.
The carrier had previously submitted to the EC a corrective action plan intended to address the systemic safety deficiencies which have been identified by various EC member states through ramp inspections performed under the auspices of the EC foreign aircraft safety assessment programme.
An EC fact-finding team evaluated the implementation of the submitted action plan, however, and found remaining deficiencies, particularly in relation to the carrier's 747 and A310 fleet. Consequently, the EC assessed that the carrier does not meet the relevant safety standards,...
