Aviation and politics do mix... sometimes

The relationship between politics and aviation is an interesting one. Depending on the agenda, policymakers choose either to get involved in aviation or take a back seat. For example, the US government takes a more active role in terrorism insurance for airlines, while the European Union is happy to sit back and hear the proposed industry clauses. That is not to say that European heads are nonchalant in their approach to aviation. After all, certain French politicians are taking an active role in the fate of Airbus, with some of them urging that each region has a stake in the beleaguered aircraft manufacturer.
