The number of passengers at UK airports has fallen for the first time since 1991and will likely decline again this year – marking the first time since World War 2 that traffic has fallen for two consecutive years.

The number of passengers at UK airports has fallen for the first time in seventeen years, according to a report published today.
The UK’s airports handled 235 million passengers during 2008, representing a fall of 1.9% compared with 2007, said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in what is the first fall since 1991.
