Greek charter, Astra Airlines, will lease a BAe 146-300 from BAE Systems Asset Management.

The aircraft, which was delivered in May, has a 99-seat all economy layout and is the airline’s second BAe 146-300. The airline chose the regional jet because it has low fixed costs.

Based at Thessaloniki, Greece, Astra has conducted nearly 500 direct ad hoc and pre-scheduled charter flights since it began services in July 2008.

The second aircraft will help serve Astra’s expanding charter programme and will be used for the carrier’s scheduled operations between Thessaloniki and Kiev in Ukraine. It will also be wet leased to Olympic Airways.
