Dublin-based leasing company Awas has delivered a 737-700 to Russian carrier Moskovia Airlines.

It is the first time the lessor has worked with Moskovia and the first Western-built aircraft for the airline. Moskovia operates a fleet of three Antonov 12s, two Tupolev 134s and four Tupolev 154s.

“This Boeing 737-700 aircraft marks the beginning of our strategy to replace the older aircraft in the fleet with newer, more-economical aircraft,” said Mikhail Alekseev, CEO of Moskovia Airlines.

Moskovia operates domestic and international cargo and passenger charter flights, and is planning to expand scheduled passenger services across Europe.

“We continue to see many opportunities as airlines operating older equipment seek to upgrade to more economic aircraft,” said Peter Ellison, head of sales at Awas.

We had a very smooth negotiation process. We put our cards on the table, they put theirs on the table and we got to an agreement very quickly.
