US votes against ETS

The bill, if passed, will prohibit US airlines from participating in the European Union’s Emissions Trading Scheme.

The US House of Representatives has voted against the EU’s plans to include US aviation in the emissions trading scheme (ETS). The scheme is due to be implemented January 1 2012, and covers any aircraft that operates, or flies through, EU airspace.
